Reiki

This technique is defined as “Universal Life Force Energy”.  Many cultures believe that life energy flows through the body. Imbalances or a disruption of this energy affects the physiological function of the body, which presents Reiki as diseases, chronic conditions, syndromes and sometimes even as inexplicable pain. Reiki is a technique where that energy is realigned and balanced. It is considered a holistic healing system. Reiki works to create spiritual, mental and physical harmony.

Some of the benefits of Reiki include:

  • Supports the body’s natural ability to heal itself.
  • Clears out energy blockages and masses from the physical body and energy fields.
  • Assists in the release of stored emotions, memories and old belief systems.
  • Vitalizes and restores power to the physical body and to all levels of the spiritual bodies.
  • Re-establishes spiritual, mental, emotional harmony and well-being.
  • Functions and heals on all levels of the being – spiritual, emotional, mental and physical.
  • Helps to loosen and release stresses while promoting deep relaxation.
  • Cleanses the physical body and entire being of poisons and toxins.
  • Adjusts and works in cooperation with the client’s higher self and his/her truest desires and needs.
  • Induces feelings of peace, joy and profound love. Enhances personal awareness.
  • Works in harmony with and is an asset to all other healing modalities

Reiki is based on the Chakras and their functions. Chakras are energy centers that are aligned along the spine.  There are 7 total. Each has a function, so if a chakra is slow, blocked or reversed the client will present with specific issues that are directly connected to the function of that specific chakra.

One of the things I like best about Reiki is that it assists in keeping me on my pathway:

Just for today, I will live the attitude of gratitude.
I will give thanks for my many blessings.
Just for today, I will let go of anger.
Just for today, I will let go of worry.
Just for today, I will do my work honestly.
Just for today, I will be kind to my neighbor and every living thing.

A Reiki session usually begins with the client expressing their presenting complaint.  What exactly is going on in their lives, how they would like to change it, what they have already attempted and what the current results have been.

Once the client has verbalized enough, I ask them to specify their intention. Utilizing a pendulum, I check their chakras, take notes as to which are open, closed, slow, blocked or even reversed.  I continue the session by facilitating the energy through their body. (I use a NO TOUCH technique.) Subsequently, I re-check the chakras ensuring that each is open and flowing with ease.  If one isn’t quite as open and functional to the extent I would like it to be, I re-address the issue dealing with that particular chakra, while I continue to facilitate more energy transfer.  I re-check and once I can confirm that all chakras are open and flowing to the best of their abilities, the session is complete.

At this point, the client usually feels extremely relaxed, calm, refreshed and emotionally stable. At the end of the session I ask the client to share an affirmation that comes to mind. That word/phrase/sentence is usually an inspirational moment for the client and it’s usually what the client will focus on during the week in between sessions.

As the sessions progress, the presenting complaint usually seems to ‘resolve itself’ allowing the client to continue to grow, mature and continue on their journey.

When I combine modalities, I usually facilitate the Reiki energy during the hypnotic portion of my hypnotherapy sessions.  I believe that a multi-directional approach offers the client more tools and quicker results. Clients who have experienced the combined techniques seem to respond more effectively. They enjoy the deeper letting go that occurs, while their unconscious mind is more open. Clients who accept both modalities utilized simultaneously reach somnambulistic depths with more ease.
