Let’s talk about New Year’s Resolutions, shall we?
How many of us have named our resolutions for the new year, written them down, or created vision boards about them? Next up, how many of us — despite all the visualization and promises to stick to these goals — still fail to keep our New Year’s Resolutions going through February? If you can relate to this scenario, you’re not alone.
As I wrote in this article on page 34 of the magazine, In The Spotlight With Clarissa Burt: Intelligent Media For The Savvy Entrepreneur, I explain the reasons and science behind why we tend to drop our resolutions like a hot potato. For full details, please review the article.
But to be fair, the main reason we don’t stick to our guns when making New Year’s Resolutions is because of our mindset. As children, everyone and everything around us influenced our perceptions of the world. If we were born into an affluent family or a low-income family, our acceptable and normal perceptions would vary. But our upbringing and our socio-economic status do not permanently underscore our potential, our ability to change, or our mindset. On the contrary, hypnotherapy and other mindset-changing tactics can help us become better versions of ourselves.
As you will see in the article, I explain the science behind our responses to resolutions. But if you want a quick recap of techniques you can use to keep your New Year Resolutions throughout the year, try these methods:
Every evening, before you go to bed, write down on a piece of paper what you would like to accomplish as if you have already achieved it. Write in detail how good it feels to have accomplished such fantastic success. Keep your notes and refer to them frequently so you can immerse yourself in these good feelings.
On a different piece of paper, write down whenever you have negative emotions or memories. Writing by hand allows you to “release” the negativity, so make sure you pour out all of the negativity that you can as you write. Next, rip the paper to shreds. Tearing up those negative emotions and feelings is quite cathartic, and you’ll feel so much better.
If you want to lock in positive images or release negative emotions even more so, I highly recommend taking it to the next level with hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy allows your mind to “upload” and “install” new programming, so you become a better version — a 2.0 if you will — of yourself. Yes, there are generic recordings available, which produce some results. However, you are a unique person, and in my opinion, you deserve a personalized recording that is created just for YOU! Think of how easy it will be for you to transform your life by just listening to a recording every evening as you’re falling asleep!
